Pandora Shuts Down Streaming In Australia

Pandora, the online music streaming service, will cease operating after Monday. Subscriptions will be automatically cancelled and prorated refunds given for subscriptions that end after July 31.

With over a million users in Australia, this seems like a bad move. One can only assume their user base has been dwindling since the launch of Apple Music.

You may be able to get around the shutdown by using a proxy or VPN but that remains to be seen, and you’d likely need to create a new account.

I tried Pandora once, and hated it. As it’s a radio service, it wouldn’t actually let you play the songs you would select, only (somewhat) similar tracks. I tried to like it, but being unable to listen to the songs I actually wanted to put me off the service.

The Spotify monopoly continues…
